She said she had to put on ‘the greatest show on earth, during the greatest show on earth’ and Madonna certainly didn’t disappoint.

The NFL labor dispute is nearing an end, and we can finally talk some football.Last year, the New England Patriots had one of the best draft classes of all time, bringing in rookies such as Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Brandon Spikes and Zoltan Mesko.

In addition to the fresh faces, the Patriots also received contributions from other younger players who made impacts in all three phases of the game.

New England Patriots offensive guard Logan Mankins could be holding up a potential settlement and end to the NFL lockout by demanding free agency rather than be subjected to New England’s franchise tag. It still remains unclear on when the lockout will be officially over, but the antics from Mankins will not speed up the process one bit.

Borges does hint in this column that he believes someone is feeding Mankins this idea. Hopefully Mankins will lay back a bit and allow the process to conclude and then he can deal with his contract issues with the Patriots on his own time, rather than the expense of the other 31 franchises. …

In the past couple years, we’ve drafted Zach Miller, Michael Bush, Louis Murphy, Jacoby Ford, Tyvon Branch, and Jared Veldheer.  All players who weren’t selected in the first round, but in the second or later rounds.
