The C.I.A. was said to have withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years on orders from the former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agencys director, Leon E.
Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.

More than 75,000 houses have faced severe damage in six districts of Yunnan with nearly 30 people afflicted with grave injuries.
In the Yaoan district of Yunnan, close to 328 are injured with one dead. The epicentre of the quake was on a region that has a rather sparse populace in the east-northeast area of Dali city than spans 98kms.

A woman being driven to Rhode Islands mental hospital was struck by a bus transporting prisoners after she jumped out of a taxi and ran across the highway.
The woman ran across the highway without her shirt on and police say she was struck by a bus carrying prisoners, presumably to court in Providence.
